Background

With a primary focus on underserved communities and developing nations, our organization is dedicated to delivering support through sustainable educational and community development programs aimed at alleviating poverty. BIF is committed to fostering self-help initiatives and actively promotes participatory development projects at the local and rural levels. Our approach encompasses the entire project lifecycle, including conception, design, implementation, and evaluation, all conducted at the grassroots level.

Our overarching objective is to formulate and establish viable educational, health, and sustaining programs for communities situated in urban centers and rural areas alike. We achieve this by facilitating a dynamic learning environment that not only challenges but also actively engages all participants.

THE PROBLEM

The developing and underserved communities both locally and globally have a long history of negligence and exploitation. This problem has impeded long term development in the areas of health, education, community health, agriculture, micro finance and peace building efforts. A lack of local government funding and inadequate resources have furthered conspired to deny these opportunities to these communities in need. As a result, quality of basic life is enjoyed by only a handful of people from the higher socio-economic strata.

OUR SOLUTION

Our short-term goal is to provide basic human services to all people including children and the youth in rural and underserved communities, so that can live a dignified and flourishing lives. Our long-term goal is to aid both the local governments and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in establishing infrastructure in their communities for them to reach their full development potential so they are empowered to thrive. Our long-term goal is supported by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals #3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.

Global Health Initiatives

Brazza’s Global Health Initiative is a project collaboration between the Washington Metropolitan Area chapter of the United Nations Association (UNA), Georgetown University, University of Maryland -School of Nursing (UMSN) and Tyler Consulting Group (TCG), aimed at engaging NGOs in health-related capacity building efforts for African countries and other developing communities impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic outbreak. Our response is governed by SDG # 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.

With the current Covid-19 pandemic, Brazza has been very instrumental in supporting local and overseas hospitals with basic medical supplies. Our recent collaboration has also gathered information related to urgent needs in the health sector both in the United States and overseas. Thus, we have outlined a process to utilize this information and facilitate NGO and businesses’ participation in activities that address their current priorities.

“Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.

Sustainable Development Goal #3

Our programming will contribute to development of appropriately trained, motivated, and self-driven healthcare workers who meet core competencies needed for a functional local public health system in tackling future disease outbreaks. We strongly believe that the business sectors can play a critical role in driving pandemic recovery in Africa. This we hope to engage multi-sectoral stakeholders in the support of COVID-relief partnership efforts in Africa, and explore the role that the business sectors can further assist the health sector to recover in the wake of COVID-19. Strong collaborations between the NGO sectors, the private sectors, the international community and local and international financiers can be a critical part of the solutions.
