The general objective of the CRC project is to establish a sustainable, research-informed foundation for a national colorectal cancer screening and registry program in Ghana through a community-based pilot education and screening initiative in the Ashanti Region. As part of that process, we are putting together a three-day capacity-building workshop and pilot screening program. This intervention will integrate education, risk-based screening, and prospective data collection to address the necessary gaps in a coordinated and sustainable manner.

The first day of the workshop will focus on education and awareness through interactive sessions led by Ghanaian clinicians, public health experts, and CRC caregivers and survivors, culturally tailored materials, and pre-/post-assessment of CRC knowledge and attitudes. The subsequent two days will implement a pilot CRC screening program using fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) among adults in the surrounding focus area in the Ashanti Region.
