Brazza International Foundation Practicum Testimonial

“Working with Brazza International Foundation on the maternal and child healthcare initiative in Ghana was a career-defining experience.

What impressed me most about Brazza was their commitment to sustainable, community-centered healthcare solutions. Rather than implementing a one-size-fits-all approach, the Foundation empowered our team to develop programs that truly addressed local needs. One such program was Ghana's dedicated clubfoot initiative, which tackled both medical and cultural barriers.

The Foundation's collaborative model was exceptional. By partnering with Hope Walks International, the Cancer Project Foundation, and Awake International, Brazza established a network of expertise that enabled us to provide comprehensive care to over 600 patients across Kumasi and Kumawu. What struck me most was how Brazza invested in me as much as the project. They trusted me to lead, supported me when challenges arose, and helped me grow into the kind of healthcare professional I wanted to become.

For anyone considering partnering with or supporting the Brazza International Foundation, know that you're investing in an organization that creates lasting change through authentic collaboration and deep respect for the communities it serves.

Working with the Brazza International Foundation has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Their commitment to improving maternal and child health, particularly in underserved communities, is both inspiring and impactful. I’ve seen firsthand how their initiatives, such as health outreaches focused on clubfoot treatment and maternal care, are thoughtfully designed, community-driven, and life-changing.

What sets Brazza apart is its deep-rooted passion for equity and sustainability. The team approaches every project with cultural sensitivity, clinical expertise, and a genuine desire to create lasting change. Collaborating with such a mission-driven organization has strengthened my belief in the power of grassroots public health and has been a meaningful step in my professional journey.

I’m proud to support and be part of Brazza’s work, and I look forward to seeing how their reach and impact continue to grow.

During my time working with the Brazza International Foundation, I had the opportunity to contribute to real-world public health challenges. The practicum experience allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge from my MPH coursework to the Foundation’s on-the-ground initiatives.

One of the key projects I supported was the annual community health fair hosted in Ghana, which served as a practical platform to strengthen several core competencies:

  • Effective communication through engagement with international stakeholders

  • Project planning within a multidisciplinary team

  • Resource planning for public health interventions

  • Evaluation of public health programmes

The team at Brazza International was incredibly supportive, collaborative, and welcoming. Under the guidance of the director, Lydia, I was able to set clear, purposeful goals that aligned with the practicum’s objectives. Lydia’s consistent support and thoughtful feedback created an environment that encouraged both professional and personal growth.

This practicum enhanced my understanding of the unique challenges and requirements that NGOs face in delivering public health programs at the community level. It deepened my appreciation for the logistical, cultural, and structural considerations involved in effective program delivery.

I am sincerely grateful to the Brazza International Foundation for investing in my development and for allowing me to contribute meaningfully to their mission. I would strongly recommend the Foundation as a practicum site for future MPH candidates seeking a hands-on, enriching, and globally oriented learning experience.

As a Black woman,  contributing to the Brazza International Foundation’s work in Ghana was deeply personal. Organizing the health fair in Kumawu Besoro wasn’t just an act of service—it was a homecoming. I saw firsthand how diasporic leadership can bridge continents and uplift communities. My role allowed me to honor cultural traditions while introducing resources that directly addressed pressing health disparities. It was about more than logistics—it was about legacy, representation, and reconnection. I’m proud to have played a part in bringing meaningful care to a place that reflects my heritage and my hope for the future.

Supporting the Brazza International Foundation has affirmed my belief in people-powered solutions. By securing funding and fostering relationships with aligned partners, I helped bring our health initiative in Ghana to life. It proved that thoughtful, grassroots philanthropy can deliver results and move communities forward.”
